Welcome February 2024!

A few facts about the month of February!  

 

It is the second month of the year in the Gregorian calendar.

This month is known for its varying number of days, 28 days in a common year and 29 days in a leap year. 2024 IS a leap year, so a big "Happy Birthday" to all the Leap Year people!
February is often associated with Valentine's Day, which is celebrated on the 14th, and it also marks the midpoint of winter in the Northern Hemisphere. Additionally, some notable events and holidays, such as Family Day in New Brunswick, Alberta, Ontario, Saskatchewan and British Columbia is acknowledged on Monday February 19th, 2024.


Birthstone:  February’s birthstone is the amethyst, a gorgeous purple gem linked to calmness, clear thinking, and protection. Its royal purple color symbolizes inner strength. This lovely gem is popular in jewelry and is believed by some to bring positive energy and awareness.

Flower: The birth flower for February is the violet, a charming and delicate bloom available in various colors like purple, blue, and white. Violets represent qualities like modesty, faithfulness, and virtue. According to Victorian flower language, violets symbolize love and affection. How touching!

What to do in February:

1.Explore Winter Sports: Embrace the winter season by trying out activities like skiing, snowboarding, or ice skating.

2.Attend Cultural Events: Check out local events, festivals, or cultural activities happening in your area.

3.Go Stargazing: February nights can be clear and crisp. Consider stargazing and enjoying the celestial wonders.

4.Take a Winter Hike: If the weather allows, go for a winter hike or nature walk to appreciate the beauty of the season.

5.Read a Book: February is a great time to cozy up with a good book, especially if it's cold outside.

6.Journal and reflect on past experiences, write down thoughts and idea's and start planning on future adventures. Remember there are many free on-line courses and classes on every subject , knowledge is power!
